Results for the weekend of the 4th /5th October showed mixed fortunes for Exe HC- with the Men putting in some top notch performances. The travelling Ladies 2nd XI got a rude awakening at the hand of Firebrands, in Bristol. Again the team under-performed (in front of a travelling audience of Lord and Lady O, Sarah, Payno and Deb H) and really only showed their mettle for half the game. This week that was the 2nd half, when the 2s were 1-0 winners! Unfortunately, they had allowed Firebrands to develop a 2-0 first half advantage, so the solitary goal was not enough to save the valuable 3 league points, as the team walked away 2-1 losers. At home the Ladies 4ths found the going hard against Winscombe and the number of penalty corners conceeded, allowed the final score line to exceed the actual difference between the teams on the day. Exe Ladies 5ths also lost away v- Ottery Crickets in a spirited game. The Ladies 3rds away at ECVH managed to save Exe blushes by getting a draw. Meanwhile both Exe Mens teams put in awesome performances, showing true grit by the bucket load. The Exe Mens 1st team grabbed the glory and the points off a very well organised Yeovil and Sherborne, on the St. Lukes pitch. However, despite an epic fight back the Mens 2nds still lost away to Chard.
