Just to say sorry to the 5ths for not being able to play on sat ... have been struck with the lurgy!!! I do LOVE the competitive scribing idea, although sadly will not be able to participate next week as am away (assuming the lurgy has left me).

There are still a few places left for this Saturday's Exe Hockey Xmas dinner at the Waterfront on Exeter Quay. If you haven't put your name down yet but would like to come give me (07779605334) or sally turner (07974397541) a ring. Cheers, Glady :) xx

| Sue Mc | 27 November 2008 18:13:25 |
Hi , Sue Mc here. I do the press reports each week for the club. Just wanted to say thanks to all who send in their weekly match reports. Jo Pope has just commented that the E & E seem to be putting lots of our reports in at the moment. Not certain why but I am happy they are. I actually send a summary of all results/games in every Monday morning following league or cup matches at the weekend and sometimes they put things in and sometimes they don't. I send the same email to E and E , Exmouth Journal, Western Morning News and southwestsports(the internet site). So thanks Jo for your positive comments and keep up the good work all our buddin' match report writers - Maybe we should have an award at the end of the year for the most entertaining contribution ????? What do you think ? x Sue

| Simon Gibbs | 03 November 2008 14:14:53 |
Hello there! Just to say the 1st XI men won 3-1 against a very attacking Exeter Uni side. Most of the goals were scored on the break and we soaked up their pressure well in what was a tightly contested game mainly played in the middle 50 of the pitch.
| Blunty | 01 November 2008 22:20:17 |

Just to say thanks for all the messages checking up on my bloody finger. On Hoppy's insistent instruction (and the raised eyebrow!) I went to RD&E and got patched up. No broken bones but a few stitches in the nail bed (nice!). I think it might be a little while before I can book my next hand massage with Robster. Also, thanks to all those who came out to support us yesterday - most appreciated. (p.s. typing left handed is such fun!) GLAD YOU ARE ON THE MEND,HOPE YOU ARE WELL FOR THIS WEEKENDS GAME V St AUSTELL (SUE Mc)
| Kate D | 18 October 2008 19:08:16 |
With Exe feeling confident after two consecutive wins, the final result against Firebrands was a bitter pill to swallow.

Just wanted to say a big public thank you to everyone who has helped with the junior coaching on Tuesday nights. Especially to Glady, Simon and Robyn who come most weeks. There is a great atmosphere and the players are getting a lot of help and are learning new things each week. Thank you.... J x

Enjoy the weekend off Dream Team. Everyone needs to make sure they do a fitness session in place!!! Anyone's welcome to join me.... x
| Simon | 14 October 2008 11:34:36 |
News on the men is that we lost... we were at deadlock at 0-0 and then 1-1 for most of the time when a last minute goal by the Hornets gave them a 2-1 victory. They had two players yellow carded for persistent aggression and professional fouls which should illustrate the type of match it was... and yes I did put in an extra dramatic roll for the benefit of the umpire... it got the guy sent off though and he deserved it! OUCH! SOUNDS NASTY SIMON, HOPE ALL OUR TEAM ARE FIT AND IN ONE PIECE! WELL DONE FOR SHOWING RESTRAINT LADS, ITS VERY EASY TO PLAY THAT WAY TOO. GOOD LUCK THIS WEKEND, YOU ARE STILL 3RD IN LEAGUE, SOUND START TO THE SEASON (SUE MCG)
| robs | 13 October 2008 18:28:12 |
Firstly Barrett Junior is good, i spoke to mum on Sunday at the U12 Girls' Tournament. Secondly congratulations to all those who played at the U12 league. The club had three teams with over 30 girls playing with EXE pride. This shows great promise for the future of the club, 'sustainable EXE'. Thanks to all the parents and coaches for giving up their time. We had fun in the Sun!! Keep your eyes peeled for pictures from Jill!! Juniors see you at training at 6pm Tuesday to learn more new tactics for outwitting opponents!! :) Good times! GREAT STUFF ROBSTER GOOD TO KNOW BARRETT JUNIOR IS WELL.HOPEFULLY EVERYBODYS' BUMPS AND BRUSIES ARE HEALING WELL READY FOR NEXT WEEKENDS GAMES. (SUE MCG)

Hi all, for those of you who wanted to know, the little 16 year old from Swansea who had to be carted off to hospital, only ended up having a suture at the end of her finger. Which is very good news as it looked as if it was going to need much more attention than that! The bone gaping through didn't look great!!!!THANKS HOPPY FOR THAT INFO....WE ARE A CARING CLUB SO ITS GOOD TO KNOW SHE WAS OKAY. TALKING OF INJURIES HOW IS ROSIE BARRETT?? (SUE mCG)
| Angie | 12 October 2008 21:19:56 |

| Brooker (again!!) | 12 October 2008 13:33:50 |
I also forgot to mention that I will be unable to attend training this week due to a rather unfortunate incident involving, an U14 netball tournament, the curb of a pavement (inconveniently positioned!!), the placement of my sunglasses on my head and now a very swollen black and blue left ankle with severly strained tendons!! Eagles, before you say anything, yes I know Netball is a silly game, except I wasnt playing I was running towards the courts to talk with my team before their 1st game. However, I was awarded 5.8 out of 6 for artistic impression!!
| Brooker Formerly known as 'Inspire'! | 12 October 2008 13:29:07 |
Well my hockey chums, I am afraid I write with rather unsatisfying and upsetting news. Having trained to the max, performed at the auditions and sold myself in the interview, I tightly clutched my telecommunications device in my wee (!) hand all day on Monday and Tuesday to the receive the rather sad email of rejection on Wednesday lunchtime. Unfortunately after 10,000 applicants I reached the final 200 to be told my gladiator journey was over (till next time!!). Upon reflection and discussion with two of my fellow contendees, we decided that in fact we were too fit (we all scored 65 or 70/70 on the fitness testing!!) or too nice (we were naturally the innocent giggly girls). We decided they were looking for the more rough around the edges, fiery sort of contestant as we later discovered the cage fighter and the Jujitsu girls got through to the final 40!! So I shall be departing the hockey scene for now and focussing my efforts on bare knuckle fighting in preparation for next year! Store your foam fingers safely people, this gladiator is not going down without a fight!!
| Blunty | 11 October 2008 19:28:17 |
What`s the news on Gladiator `Inspire` may I ask...or is she considering Countdown instead?
| Sally | 10 October 2008 12:51:06 |

I witnessed Robyn doing her run!!
| Kate D | 09 October 2008 19:55:23 |
I'll try and get one done but bear in mind that I was in a really grumpy mood because we lost so that might be reflected in the report. Having said that, the fact that I was convinced it was 3-1 might not make me the best person anyway....
| Rkin | 09 October 2008 19:24:05 |
Firstly i would like to say how undermined i feel, i jumped forward to write the match report and was so totally estatic to see it appear on the website and then moments later an 'offical version' of the match report miraculously appeared!! The cheek of it!! Only jokes, only jokes!! Canny knows where she stands now!! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA......ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST!.....I hope all play well at the weekend and it is a weekend of EXE WINS!! robs xx
| Brooker | 07 October 2008 17:43:58 |
I just thought I would mention that whoever wrote the Mens 1st XI report, Sherborne has no 'u' in it. Its a common mistake made by many but please get it right!!
| Simon | 07 October 2008 14:16:23 |
Wouldn't it make sense for teams to all use the same place for teas?? Why not use the same place as Max found us?? The Heart of Oak down the road from the St. Lukes pitch...??????
| vik | 07 October 2008 12:21:55 |

| Ali Hilts | 06 October 2008 17:17:56 |
Hi. Message for 3rds and 4ths re Teas on 25 October. Have just heard from ISCA Centre that they CAN'T accomodate us on that day (they are full of apologies - apparently 200 people there at a wedding) so we have to make alternative arrangements. Can I leave it with Captains to organise something for that day please. I'll confirm at next week's committee meeting.

Hi all...can I remind those of you who have not completed a membership form and made a payment that some form of payment is supposed to be with me by tomorrow. So far I have received around 50 payments/standing order set up's, based on last years playing and associate members that is less than half of the membership. I will be chasing from now on, so please ensure that you bring payment to training this week. Can I remind you again that some membership forms went out with the wrong address on, it is 16 School Road Exeter EX2 9AF.

| Sam Weir | 28 September 2008 21:49:31 |
Exe Men 1st played brilliantly to beat Sidmouth 3-0, with only 11 men and no subs, the team worked well creating opportunities for each other, despite the banter between the two teams and the umpires at the start of the match. A great game of hockey and a brilliant start to the season! THANKS SAM , SIMONS CHIPPED IN TOO , SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT START (X SUE MC )
| Blunty | 28 September 2008 18:07:57 |

Just wanted to say a big thank you to Ellie (Warnes), Ellie Keast, Vicky Styles, Jack Sargeant, Jill Dupain, Sue Mc and Rockin' Robin for all their help at the Junior Academy. It was great fun and the young players were a pleasure to coach. Not sure if they fully understood Robyn (does anyone!!) but she certainly kept us all amused for the 2 days. Jack - did you actually let Ed in on the triangle game! Finally, thanks to our 2 sponsors, Purple and Tony Pryce. Purple provided our t.shirts and also provide our club hoodies. Hi all, glad to see so many of the teams did really well last season. Stilo text me to see if I could help at the carboot sale but I'm not available, sorry. With regards to her other question which was, `am I playing next season ?` it's looking abit unlikely as I'm having further surgery on my knee later this month. I'm sure I'll down to support the home games as soon as they start.
| Kate D | 06 August 2008 20:38:48 |
Hi all!! Sorry for my absence at training (Tuesday and Thursday- the shame!), but I am flitting about the country! I promise, promise, promise that fitness is well under way (PB at the gym yesterday in fact), so I'm keeping up (I hope...) Have fun everyone! x

Hey all, dont you just hate this time of year when you just know you have to start some 'light' preseason training about now.... The sound of my asthmatic lungs puffing and wheezing, and my poor legs that complain at the request of dragging my sorry behind around the roads of Exeter - is it just me??? Anyway, the reason for my note, I am sad to say I wont be able to make the car booty this year as sadly I will be laying beside a pool in Sardinia, but last year was a hoot in our yellow high vis jackets so to all you little helpers out there - GIVE IT A GO, WE MADE STACKS OF MONEY LAST YEAR!!! Over and out x SUEMC HERE, GOOD ON YOU GRANGE.....MAKE IT FUN !

Hi all, just wanted to let you all know about a Free Health Talk happening at America Hall in Pinhoe... The first talk "Genetics, Lifestyle and Health: The scientific truth about who gets sick and who stays well" is happening on Friday 27th June at 6.30 and again on Friday 11th July at 6.30 pm - Everybody is welcome as the aim of the talks is to change the way you view health and to show you what to do to gain health! Hopefully see some of you there!
| Farmer Edna | 17 June 2008 21:55:10 |
Just a quick note so thank you to all the ladies who came down to spend the weekend on the farm. Robyn kept me on my toes and the neighbours awake from over using the tractor horn. But Richard (or Edna?) woke Robyn at the crack of dawn and then everyone was awake. Hefty the waiter on saturday night was so excited so see you he riped the gusset out of his trousers, and he does not do that for everyone!
| Jess Brooker | 17 June 2008 14:40:55 |
Oh Blunty Blunty Blunty, you are confused, upon consultation with my diary I see that 17th Jan is in fact a Saturday!! Can you please confirm that your January radar is registering the above information!! I feel such an outing would be a beneficial experience for the teams, if you were to venture to Sherborne then we would be honoured to host such a prestigious club!
| Jess Brooker | 17 June 2008 11:31:04 |
Blunty Blunty Blunty!! I am enquiring on behalf of my school hockey teams, wondering whether it would be possible to make friendly fixtures against the mighty Exe on 17th Jan, I am thinking, Exe 2's and Exe 3's? What do you think or who do I contact?

Hey everyone, | |
| Treez | 16 June 2008 11:23:24 |
Hi Susie - can we get something on the front page of the website asking players not to enter the pitch gates when there is something else taking place before our slots with summer league up at St Lukes - we need to get this message to the other teams too so will have a word with Jill. I don't think it was our ladies but someone on the pitch beforehand had mentioned to Bev their 'concerns' about people entering the pitch and then going onto the pitch running/knocking up before the hockey slot, and we need to support her in dealing with this. Cheers Treez
| Simon Gibbs | 11 June 2008 13:00:36 |
Hi Blunty, the First and Last played their first but not their last summer league match up at the Uni last thursday and put in a convincing victory over Sidmouth. Can't remember if it was 2 or 3 nil, but we won anyway, even after having our numbers decreased with a yellow card. And no it wasn't me.

Can any ladies please let me know if they want to play a triangular tournament against Ashmoor and Dart (Max is sorting the men). It'll be three matches, followed by food, then 'games' of some description (it's a knock out stylee I think), followed by some more food if we want it. If we get a squad of 14, it'll be a fiver each.
| Simon | 23 April 2008 13:34:48 |

This really is the last call for those surplus mobile phones! I will be at the Cup Final on Saturday (1.30pm at Exeter University v Isca Dragons) to collect the last offerings - we can get up to £4 per phone irrespective of it's condition. Just take out the SIM card and hand the phone over - if you have any mobile phone accessories they are accepted as well. Email me if you have phones but won't be at the Cup Final and we can make other arrangements. Thanks to those who have already supported the cause - and don't forget to check out the easyfundraising website as well. These are my last tasks before standing down as Fundraising Secretary. COME ON EVERBODY , MAKE A SMALL EFFORT AND GET THOSE OLD MOBILES OUT AND OFF TO MITCH TO RAISE TH CLUB SOME MONEY - CHEERS

Exe Ladies 2s travelled away to Cheltenham, keen to finish the season with a win and keen to keep their good league position in the table. Exe left it late against this team on the home leg, only securing game in the dying minutes, but the ladies in red were confident that more goals could be scored this time, making it a comfortable win.

just been reading through the results and thought id leave a comment to try and lighten the mood! mens 1s play some of the best hockey of their season to beat Taunton Civil Service 2nds and secure safety. although we were rained on for the full 70minutes the support was good. the 2nds returned from yeovil to watch the game for a bit and the ever loyal brittny and lucy kept the dugout warm! Jenny and digger arnold, my parents and titch's mum also braved the weather!! 3 goals from titch, 1 from rich (hit by max directly into his stick :-) and into the goal) 1 for simon (celebrated in fantastic style) and 1 from me. ALSO, i was delighted and surpried as i was handed a bin liner containing all the kit that i had left in taunton when we played the away fixture! i'd forgotten how much i loved this hoodie! anyway thats the end of this essay of a comment. see everyone on the 5th!!!!! x

Sorry to hear about another horrible facial injury, Nat and hope that you are not in too much pain. I didn't eat too much soup, but got a bit hooked on mashed potato and custard, not necessarily mixed together! Happy mashing!

In recognition of the splendid efforts in the rain at the weekend there will be NO senior ladies training this week - Tuesday or Wednesday. However, normal service will be resumed on 25th & 26th March. Guys - if your training has finished at Exmouth do you want to join us at Lukes next Wednesday 7-8.30pm?

Hi all I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who has wished me well. Big thanks to my entourage at the hospital!!! I felt like a super star! Also thanks to Sue and Jo for there support on the pitch, I am so glad you never told me my tooth was in my gum shield!!! Thankfully all 4 of my front teeth have now been pushed back in and secured tight by my brace and the orthodontist so they won’t drop out! Fingers crossed I can keep them… I just can’t believe that the girl who loves food has been restricted to a diet of soup!!! The most drastic attempt to loose weight yet!

Well done girls both under 18 and under 13's who won their Cullompton Tournment. Its a good job that the next round of the under 18cup is home since Harlesdon Magpies are from Norfolk. That is a very long way to travel ....phew !

| Robs | 10 March 2008 09:50:02 |

| Blunty | 10 March 2008 09:34:54 |
Wow I enjoyed my hockey watching at the weekend- esp the U18s, who put us all through the mill with that adreneline packed game, which really got the crowd roaring. YOU MUST ALL BE GRINNING FROM EAR TO EAR...DAZZLING STUFF!
| Angie | 10 March 2008 09:17:40 |
U18s you were fantastic!! What an example of how to work together as a team for each other... with a never-say-die attitude.. we always knew you could do it!!
| Kate D | 09 March 2008 21:24:03 |
Big, big, BIG, BIIIIIIIIIIIIG well done to to the U18s. Brilliant result. Whoop!
| Treez | 09 March 2008 20:13:18 |
What an excellent game by the U18s today - a great come back and a fantastic result against, it has to be said, a really good Isca team - but, hey, not good enough!!! Was a pleasure to umpire - great stuff ladies! On another matter, namely the wearing of various head gear - please, Ms Granger, lose it - looking at you today reminded me of that distant game when Exeter 1sts played against Teignmouth in last seasons Cup, you looked just like I did that day and I know you really wouldn't want that, now would you??!!!
| waazzzaa | 09 March 2008 20:13:13 |
